| Program Information |
The Residential Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program Phase I consists of a 120-day transitional residential treatment program addressing the issues of mental health, substance abuse and criminal conduct. The major components of the treatment portion are completion of a series of interactive journals titled “Managing Co-occurring Disorders: an integrated approach.” The following journals are included in the program: “Mental Health Disorders”, “Responsible Thinking”, “Handling Difficult Emotions”, “Substance Use Disorders” and “My Individual Change Plan Journal”. The curriculum includes extensive reading and written exercises related to change in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, criminal conduct and criminal thinking. They are completed in a group setting where the groups meet four days per week and are curriculum focused. Other components of the program include recreation/leisure activities, weekly participation in a twelve-step program and Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance meetings, Anger Management, a community project, Suicide Prevention, Money Management, a Benefits Class, and a Community Meeting.
All members of RDDT receive individual psychotherapy. The clients live and work together in close proximity for the 180 days.

Vocational Services |
Individuals participating in ComCor’s RDDT program are assigned a case manager, and a thorough assessment process is conducted utilizing the state’s Standardized Offender Assessment-Revised assessment battery. A vocational needs screen is conducted on each individual to determine if a more thorough vocational assessment needs to be done. A mental health screen is also conducted on each program participant at the time of admission to identify any immediate mental health issues that need to be addressed.
The case manager collaborates with ComCor’s mental health staff, treatment staff and vocational staff to develop an individualized supervision plan for each offender, outlining the program outcomes and behavioral expectations for the individual. This supervision plan is based on each individual’s unique criminogenic needs and risk factors. A treatment plan is also developed for each program participant.
A well-established system of substance abuse monitoring and testing for alcohol and drug use monitors each offender in the RDDT program. Program participants are required to meet regularly with their assigned case manager to discuss progress toward objectives identified in their individualized supervision plans and to address problems that may be impinging on the individual’s participation in the RDDT program. |
