Colorado Springs CO – Pikes Peak NASW (National Association of Social Workers), proudly announces the kickoff of National Social Work Month 2006. Social Work Month provides an opportunity for social workers to highlight the essential role they play in alleviating some of America’s most difficult problems. Social workers continue to lead efforts that enhance human well-being by shaping the programs and policies that strengthen individual lives and improve our society. These professionals focus on opening doors of opportunity for everyone, particularly those in greatest need. Through education, training and dedication, social workers provide assistance in many different practice areas including health, mental health, child welfare, end of life, adolescent health, HIV/AIDS and family violence.
Each year the National Association of Social Workers honors members whose contributions to Social Work have been outstanding. This year’s Pikes Peak Social Work Recognitions are being held Friday, March 17th from 3-5 pm at COMCOR offices. The 2006 Pikes Peak Social Worker of the Year award is shared by Paul Isenstadt of COMCOR and Dolores Nelson of the Department of Human Services.
- Paul Isenstadt is being recognized for outstanding contributions and dedication to community safety, criminal justice and clinical social work
